Recently there are more and more people who are taking a new step in the world of Kannada literature. Majority seems to be leaning towards serious literature. Although the legacy of comedy writers is not great, it is very disappointing that Navyas are not seriously involved in it.

In this regard, ‘Basavanagowda Hebbalagere’ being a teacher by profession, is pulling the trend towards comedy literature. Its first attempt was a collection of humorous poems called ‘Bolayana’. Engaged in various genres of literature, he has participated in state level essay competition and won prizes. Originally serving as a primary teacher in Soraba taluk of Shimoga district, he is interested in training school teachers, writing, poetry, witty, essay, personality development writing. Apart from writing columns for some newspapers, he has also written articles on environment, education, human relations in many newspapers. There is no doubt that this ‘Bolayana’ collection of witty poems by Intippa Basavanagowda Hebbalagere will make the readers laugh.
