This novel with the emotional yet beautiful title of ‘Olavina Rana’ is an easy read in author Kumar Bhadravati’s tender narration. Jayabheri has succeeded in tying the responsible story of the female great grandmother into a framework of simplicity with such closeness that it does not feel cynical. I was worried that if I went on describing the author of the novel, I might be accused of being a compliment.

Friend, confidant, stubborn, brave and hearty author Kumar Bhadravati and I have been friends for almost thirty four years. Without suspecting dishonor, without taking into account the cruel days, we have taught both feet a lesson by retreating from hunger and spending time with water. Even when far-fetched events entered our lives, we did not hold on to hope and continued to challenge life.
